2020 08 02 Ludington Salmon Sunday Tournament

Port Captain Henry Nabors: The Sunday Aug. 2nd Salmon Tournament was a bit different that the Thursday and Saturday tournaments – from a WEATHER point of view! The forecast for Sunday was very reasonable with no rain shown! BUT rain did appear over land about 7:30 am and marched directly over the tournament by 7:45! It was a hard rain and it lasted over two hours! There was no lighting and no strong winds! Of the thirteen boats there were no comments about concern about the weather; no problem, just keep on keeping on! Most boats kept fishing during the rain; two of us decided to just sit on the lake and wait for the rain to stop – about 10 am! Fish call was made during the downpour! Some fish were caught while the rains came!!

We called the tournament at noon and held the weigh in at Harbor View Marina as planned. Thirteen boats participate with a crew of 39 anglers! ‘Fish, Fish, Fish” Captain Larry Tabaka and crew took first place with five fish weighed at 77.7 pounds.

Captain Bob Schultz caught the biggest fish – a 19.65 pound king and 2nd place. The top four fish won big fish awards
