We held our annual Manistee River Salmon tournament on 9/21/2019 to kick off the fall river tournaments within the club! We had a total of 13 members and guests fishing, and 4 additional guests for dinner. The fishing was hot!.. But not the good kind of hot, rather the bad kind that puts salmon into survival mode and makes for a tough bite! For those that got out before light, most everyone hooked fish before 10am when the bite completely turned off. We only had 2 fish landed of those eligible for big fish for the day. One was released by a guest and friend of mine Brady Stasa without a thought of even considering it would “place”, and the other was kept and weighed as the sole fish weighed for the day.
This fish was also caught by guest and friend of mine Jake Reudisale who brought a 22.7lb king to hand, and took away the big fish money for the day. Although most members did hook fish, all were lost…
It was hard to get them to bite, but seemed even harder to keep them hooked after they bit!
We enjoyed a great dinner of pulled pork sandwiches and sides. There were plenty of laughs, stories and good company at our dinner as always!
