Well it was a great weekend to be chasing Coho in southern Lake Michigan, port of New Buffalo. Friday, the lake was flat and not much fishing pressure, 4 boats pre-fished and all did very well, 60 + fish caught. Tournament day (Saturday) was a little different, shortly after getting out on the lake a dense fog rolled in and visibility was about 100 yards. Fortunately, most of the 6 boats in the tournament were already out fishing, so no major navigation was needed to get to the fishing grounds. Just a bunch of boats moving slowly through the fog trolling. The fishing pressure was extreme on Saturday. All the weekend warriors and plus some were all fishing out of New Buffalo, “in other words it was crowded out there”. The 6 boats that fished caught 30 fish for the tournament. The tournament was Coho only to be weighed for tournament results. With that being said we all knew that only weighing Coho, would make the weigh in very interesting (ounces to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners). Congratulations to:
1st place finish – Captain Bill Gagnon (Out a Shift)
2nd place – Dave Zawacki (Salty Dog)
3rd place – Rick Spangler (Mr. Barkie)
Big Fish – Rick Spangler 3.4 lbs (Good Job Rick!)
