BENTON HARBOR SALMON TOURNAMENTS SAT. MAY 19th 2018 RESULTS
Port Captain Chris: The May 19th salmon tournament was one of the most productive salmon fishing I’ve ever seen.
The weekend started on Thursday for some like Salty Dog and Friday for many more like Tug Boat, Reel Affair, Reel Challenge, Rose Bud, Fishin’ Machine and others. It was quite windy and rough Friday, but fishable. Many boats got several fish; getting 6 plus was quite common.
Saturday was met with rain all night into morning, followed by very low visibility fog, but dead calm seas. After making a few calls to captains, they felt it was safe enough to hold tournament. Good thing because fishing was remarkable.
As you can see by the results and pictures in the report in the May/June Newsletter on page 11, fishing was quite excellent. The average fish weight was almost 8 lbs. All but 1 boat were able to weigh their maximum limit
